Opening Remarks Lecturers’ Handouts of the Public Lecture on Criminal Policy on Jan. 26, 2018.

The Public Lecture on Criminal Policy was held from 15:00 to 18:00 on January 26 (Fri.), 2018, at the Conference Hall on the B1 of the Ministry of Justice, Japan.

Lecturers’ Handouts:

Culture of Lawfulness and Measures to Promote it (by Dr. Roy Godson)

UN Congresses and Education for Justice (by Ms. Lulua Asaad, Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer, UNODC)

 

Approximately 100 people such as legal practitioners, scholars, volunteer probation officers and ordinary citizens attended the public lecture on criminal policy.  The lectures and audience discussed the rule of law, culture of lawfulness and the roles of the United Nations Office of Drug Crimes (UNODC) through their presentations and questions and Answers.

 

These are also issues to be discussed in Kyoto Crime Congress in 2020, the ACPF would be happy if this public lecture contributed to promoting the movement of Kyoto Crime Congress.

Public Lecture of Criminal Policy will be held on January 26 (Friday), 2018.

This is co-organized by three organizations:

UNAFEI: United Nations Asia and Far East Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders

JCPS: Japan Criminal Policy Society, and

ACPF: Asia Crime Prevention of Foundation

 

The Public Lecture started in 1982 when the ACPF was established.  Since then, the Public Lecture has been held once a year.

The Lecturers for this year are followings:
